JAKARTA - To support various infrastructure projects, PT Waskita Karya Tbk (WSKT) plans to build a steel plant. This factory is located in the Cikande Modern Industrial Estate, Serang, Banten.

In the early stages of production, steel fabrication was carried out to meet the needs of the 500 Kilo Volt Ampere (KVA) transmission project in Sumatra with total tower production reaching 4000 tons per month. In addition, this steel fabrication also produces guard rails as a safety variable for toll road projects.

Waskita Karya's Senior Vice President Corporate Secretary, Shastia Hadiarti, said that the steel plant with a total investment of Rp 230 billion is ready to operate and planned to be inaugurated in early December 2019.

"The construction of the plant is also intended to accelerate the infrastructure project contract obtained by WSKT, so that it can be felt by the community, which is our passion in working as a SoE," Shastia said in a press release.

Going forward, WSKT is targeting production capacity to reach 40 thousand to 50 thousand in 2020. The company is optimistic that steel mill investment will become one of the backbone of WSKT in the long run. (LM)
