Jonan and Susi rumoured to be considered as SOE commissioners

JAKARTA - Former Energy Minister Ignasius Jonan and former Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti are rumoured to be considered as commissioners in state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

Mr Jonan is reportedly being considered as a commissioner at state-owned airline PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA), while Ms Pudjiastuti will reportedly serve as a commissioner at Perum Perikanan Indonesia (Perindo).

“We are evaluating other SOEs other than the five major ones, including Garuda and others. We’re evaluating all of them,” Special Staff Member to the SOE Minister Arya Sinulingga told Bisnis.com, Tuesday (26/11).

The five major SOEs in question are PT PLN (Persero), PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI), PT Inalum (Persero), and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BBTN).

Any confirmation regarding the rumours, said Mr Sinulingga, will be announced after SOE Minister Erick Thohir returns from South Korea on November 29, 2019. Mr Thohir is currently in South Korea as part of the delegation that accompanies President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo on an official visit to attend the 30th ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit.

“Mr Erick is still overseas, so we have to wait until he comes back from Korea and we’ll see his letter [to the President regarding new SOE appointments],” Mr Sinulingga added. (MS)
