ULSAN - Hyundai Motor Company’s upcoming plant in Bekasi, West Java is estimated to create around 3,500 jobs.

“There will be 3,500 jobs created as well as a training and research centre and an electric car development facility,” said Investment Coordinating Board Head Bahlil Lahadahlia during a visit to Hyundai’s plant in Ulsan, South Korea with President Joko Widodo on Tuesday (26/11).

In addition, Mr Lahadahlia also affirmed that the ICB will ask Hyundai to maximise the use of Indonesian-produced raw materials and collaborate with local businesses.

“Such as using battery materials from Morowali and locally produced rubber tyres, so that all electric cars produced in Indonesia will be using locally produced materials,” said Mr Lahadahlia.

On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B. Panjaitan said that Hyundai cars produced in Indonesia will be aimed toward markets in Asia and Australia.

“Both parties seek to develop and produce new vehicle models to meet demand in Asia and Australia,” said Mr Panjaitan. (MS)
