Rp 175 trillion of foreign capital entered Indonesia through government securities

JAKARTA. More foreign capital entered Indonesian through the Government Securities (SBN) than through shares. Data from the Directorate General of Budget Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR) of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia also showed that foreign capital entered Indonesia through government securities reached Rp 175.03 trillion.

Meanwhile, according to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange, net buy conducted by foreign investors since the beginning of the year (year-to-date) only reached Rp.41.98 trillion.

In fact, if it is reduced by non-cash transactions from the acquisition of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk. and PT Bank Nusantara Parahyangan Tbk. by MUFG Bank Ltd in a transaction valued at Rp.49.62 trillion in April, there was a net sell of around Rp.7.64 trillion.

Head of Research at Samuel Sekuritas Indonesia, Suria Dharma, explained that in the last few years, foreign investors often left the Indonesian stock market and choose to invest in government securities. (AM/AR)
