House of Representatives to push for Capital City Relocation Bill

29 November 2019 16:19

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives said it will push for the National Capital City Relocation Bill and the implementation of the Omnibus Law, which is targeted for completion in the next two to three months.

According to House Legislation Board member Firman Soebagyo, there needs to be an understanding and agreement between the government and the House to facilitate the legal procedures involved in relocating the capital. The understanding and agreement are related to the mechanism of Omnibus Law implementation.

“Substances will follow and agreement, and that’s why lobbying is so important,” said the Functional Groups (Golkar) Party politician as quoted by Bisnis.com, Friday (29/11).

The process, Mr Soebagyo added, will go through with no hassle due to President Joko Widodo’s mention of the Omnibus Law in his inauguration speech on October 20, 2019. Nevertheless, Mr Soebagyo estimates that the Omnibus Law proposal will be completed in the next two to three months due to dynamics within the House.

“[I think] it will be completed in January,” said Mr Soebagyo. (MS)
