LRT Jakarta targets passenger volume of 14,000 per day

02 December 2019 07:35

JAKARTA. Jakarta LRT, operator of Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Jakarta, is targeting to record an average passenger volume of 14,000 per day to generate revenues of around Rp 70 billion per day.

Wijanarko, Director of Jakarta LRT, said that the passenger volume has now reached an average of 7,000 passengers per day from 6 departure stations during the trial period from 11 June 2019 to the end of November 2019.

Wijanarko admitted that in August 2019, the volume of LRT users had decreased significantly to 6,000 passengers per day. "One of the causes at that time was the blackout in August 2019," he explained as reported by Bisnis Indonesia on Sunday (1/12) yesterday.

The LRT tariff is currently set at around Rp. 5,000 for one tap. This rate is determined in accordance with subsidies from the government. (KR/AR)
