03 December 2019 15:13

LONDON. The London branch of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) has obtained US$ 400 million in funding. The funding, according to BNI London General Manager Ujuan Marihot H.P., came from local banks.

"[The funding] came from local banks and non-bank depositors in the form of financial institutions," said Mr Marihot in London as quoted by Kumparan, Monday (2/12).

The fresh funds will be channeled as loans for companies in Indonesia, including to finance exporters. "We will finance wood and textile exporters such as Sritex Group," said Mr Marihot.

BNI Corporate Director Putrama Wahju Setiawan said that with the funding BNI can raise its interest margin. BNI London, said Mr Setiawan, is one of BNI's best performing overseas branches.

In terms of assets, BNI London has the second-largest asset value after BNI Singapore. BNI London currently has an asset value of US$ 1.5 billion. (AM/MS)
