JAKARTA. PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk (SMDR), a company engaged in sea transport services, is optimistic that it can make a profit in 2020, after experiencing a loss of US$ 21.44 million by the third quarter (Q3) this year.
Bani Maulana Mulia, Director of SMDR, said the company was actually able to make a profit this year. However, due to the loss on disposal from the sale of 2 of its vessels, the company must record a net loss in its financial statements.
Operationally, we still record a total profit of US$ 10 million from all of our business units, "Mulia said as quoted by Kontan on Thursday (5/12) yesterday.
To gain profit in 2020, Mulia claimed that SMDR had obtained a number of contracts from inside and outside the country. The company also has plans to expand the capacity of its port in East Kalimantan. (KR/AR)
