JAKARTA - The contribution of electronic goods assembly services to PT Sat Nusapersada Tbk (PTSN) decreased in the third quarter of 2019 compared to the same period last year. However, overall company revenue rose 16% from US$ 233.48 million in the third quarter of 2018 to US$ 271.05 million in the third quarter of 2019.

Quoted from the public exposure sheet, industry segment revenue was recorded at US$ 257.52 million, up 23% over the same period last year, industry revenue of US$ 209.87 million. While assembly services contributed revenues of US$ 13.51 million, down 43% from US$ 23.61 million.

Smailly Andy, Director of PT Sat Nusapersada Tbk (PTSN), said that the decline in assembly service revenue was due to a decrease in domestic smartphone assembly orders. "This is due to highly competitive market competition, the existence of black market sales and changes in customer decisions to reduce production to reduce losses," he said.

According to him, intense competition in the smartphone industry has caused the rise and fall of the brand owner market share in the domestic market. This causes large fluctuations in orders received by the company from the brand owner. The situation also worsened due to the rise of black market smartphone sales in the domestic market. (LK)
