Credit Suisse stops to provide financing for coal-fired power plant projects

11 December 2019 15:50

JAKARTA. Credit Suisse, one of the global investment banks, decided to stop financing the Steam Power Plant (PLTU) projects that utilize coal.

"The bank has decided to no longer provide any form of financing, specifically related to the development of coal-fired power plants," explained Credit Suisse as quoted by Reuters on Wednesday (11/12) today.

The decision was about a week after environmental groups included Credit Suisse in ten European banks opposed by them due to their involvement in coal-fired power plants.

The same thing has been done by Deutsche Bank, which has stopped financing for coal power plant projects or coal mining activities. In addition, UniCredit also plans to stop financing for coal projects starting in 2023. (KR/AR)
