JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Finance have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) concerning the mechanism of post-border import trading system surveillance.

The MoU was signed by Director-General of Consumer Protection and Orderly Commerce Veri Anggrijono and Director-General of Customs Heru Pambudi at the Ministry of Trade on Wednesday (18/12).

“The MoU aims to improve coordination for business players’ data and information exchange and supervision of import trading system objects analysed by Indonesia Single Risk Management (ISRM),” said Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto in an official statement.

“The MoU is also a show of support for post-border import trading system surveillance and the utilisation of Customs’ technical laboratory.”

Post-border surveillance is an import trading system mechanism started with the inspection of import permits issued by the Ministry of Trade, which takes place after goods are released from the customs area. The policy is expected to speed up the release of goods from customs area, particularly industrial raw materials. (MS)
