JAKARTA. PT Pelita Samudera Shipping Tbk (PSSI), a provider of sea freight services, has purchased a new Motor Vessel (MV) to support the 2020 performance growth.

According to Imelda Agustina Kiagoes, Corporate Secretary of PSSI, said that the new vessel has a capacity of 28 thousand deadweight tons (DWT). The transaction was carried out by paying US$ 1.5 million in cash, and the remainder in the form of shares valued at US$ 6 million.

Kiagoes explained that this was the company's 6th MV, and the 4th vessel purchased in 2019. After the payment, the vessel will be used immediately by PSSI. "The first plan is to transport iron products from the Morowali area, South Sulawesi," Kiagoes said on Thursday (19/12) today to idnfinancials.com.

The purchase of the new vessel increases PSSI's asset value. As of the end of November 2019, PSSI assets have increased 27% year on year to US$ 140.1 million. This total asset includes 86 vessels the company owns.

For information, PSSI is aggressively targeting rental income growth of above 100% in 2020. This growth will be driven by diversification in the business of transporting coal and other mineral loads. (KR/AR)
