JAKARTA. SOE Minister Erick Thohir said he will arrange a meeting between PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero) and new investors after the establishment of an insurance holding company with a number of other SOEs.
President Joko Widodo is scheduled to decide on the establishment of an insurance holding company after receiving reports from Mr Thohir and Attorney General S.T. Burhanuddin at the Presidential Palace this afternoon, Monday (23/12).
"Inshallah (God willing) the President will give his approval for the establishment of an insurance holding company. There will be the second and third steps and so on. Meeting investors in the second step," said Mr Thohir in Tebet, South Jakarta.
However, Mr Thohir did not reveal in details his plan to partner new investors for Jiwasraya, nor did he disclose the realisation target.
According to Mr Thohir, an insurance holding company will result in Rp 1.5-2 trillion in liquidity every year. The funds will be used as a cashflow to complete customers' claim arrears. (AM/MS)
