JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II (Persero) Commercial Director Daan Achmad is said to be one of the frontrunners for CEO of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA).
Sources familiar with the matter told Tempo that Mr Achmad is the ‘strongest candidate’ to lead the state-owned airline following the sacking of Ari Askhara amid a smuggling scandal. Currently the airline’s Finance and Risk Management Director Fuad Rizal is serving as acting CEO.
So far, neither Mr Achmad nor the Ministry of SOEs has commented on the matter. Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir said he would officially propose three candidates for the top job at the airline in early January 2020, ahead of its scheduled EGM on January 22.
Prior to joining AP II, Mr Achmad started his career in Garuda and held several posts from mid 1980s to early 2000s including Financial System Supervisor (1988-1990), Vice President (VP) for Financial System and Procedure (1996-1998), VP for Information Technology (2000-2002), and VP for Human Resources Management (2003-2005).
