JAKARTA - Indonesian Ambassador to World Trade Organization (WTO) Syamsul Bahri revealed that WTO will look at aspects of Indonesia's international trade policy and priority programs in the 7th Indonesian Trade Policy Review (TPR) at the WTO, which will be held on November 2-4 2020. This was also expressed by representatives of the WTO TPR Division (TPRD), Sergio Stamnas, during a visit to Jakarta on 17-19 December 2019.

TPR is a transparency mechanism in the WTO to review the development and achievements of trade policies and trade-related WTO members in a predetermined time period. Indonesia receives a review every seven years.

The Director of Multilateral Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Dandy Satria Iswara, who was also present, added, in principle, TPR process is information disclosure and policy explanation.

"Later, every member of the WTO is given the opportunity to express their views and ask questions to Indonesia. For this reason, this is an excellent opportunity to convey the successes of the Government of Indonesia in trade sector to WTO members," said Dandy. (LM)
