Government eyes Rp 15 trillion in initial sovereign debt auction

JAKARTA. The government through the Ministry of Finance will launch the first sovereign debt auction of 2020 on January 7, 2020 with an indicative target of Rp 15 trillion. The auction aims to meet part of the 2020 State Budget financing target.

According to an official statement from the Directorate-General of Financing and Risk Management, there are seven sovereign debt series' to be offered in the auction: SPN12200410, SPN12210108, FR0081, FR0082, FR0080, FR0083, and FR0076.

The SPN12210108 series is the newest that has not been offered in previous auctions. The series, which will mature on January 8, 2021, has coupon rates using a discount system.

For government bonds, the government will open an auction for four series' of Benchmark Sovereign Debt in 2020. The four series' offer interest rates ranging from 6.5% to 7.5%.

The government has set a net issuance target for state securities at Rp 389.3 trillion for 2020.

Last year, the government targeted net issuance for state securities at Rp 388.96 trillion, although the realisation was far higher at Rp 458.27 as of December 18, 2019. (AM/MS)
