JAKARTA. PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) will inject additional capital of Rp 1 trillion into PT Bank Royal this year. The capital injection is an attempt to make Bank Royal a Commercial Bank Business Group (BUKU) 2 bank. Bank Royal will also transform into a digital bank.
At present, Bank Royal is considered as a BUKU 1 bank, with a core capital (tier 1) of Rp 319.71 billion.
"The capital injection of Rp 1 trillion is done so that the bank can become a BUKU 2 bank," said Hera F Haryn, EVP Secretariat & Corporate Communication of BCA, as quoted by Kontan.co.id on Friday (3/1).
Based on studies conducted by BCA, Hera said that Bank Royal has the potential to become a digital bank, targeting players in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.
BCA officially acquired 99.9% of Bank Royal shares in November 2019. (AM/AR)
