Kapuas Prima Coal US$ 30 million smelter development delayed

08 January 2020 11:35

JAKARTA. PT Kapuas Prima Coal Tbk (ZINC) is still awaiting the completion of its US$ 30 million lead smelter in Central Kalimantan, which was originally scheduled by the end of 2019.

ZINC CEO Hendra William said the project will enter the commissioning stage by the end of the first quarter this year, adding that the company does not mind the delay.

The smelter is scheduled to enter the test stage by no later than 2021. The processing facility is estimated to produce 30,000 ingot tonnes of zinc annually.

According to Mr William, the lead purifying smelter will not be used to increase the company's 2020 production. "Instead it will increase the sales margin of our lead," he said as quoted by Kontan, Tuesday (7/1). (KR/MS)
