10 January 2020 14:26

JAKARTA. The Jakarta municipal government through PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI are collaborating to create a joint venture which will manage 72 stations using the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) concept.

The joint venture, which is called PT Moda Integrasi Transportasi Jabodetabek (MITJ), will also be authorised to manage the airport train and Commuter Line trains.

The Jakarta government has a 51% stake in MITJ through MRT Jakarta, while KAI owns the remaining 49%.

According to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, the initiative will improve the efficiency of government subsidies to mass transportation. "Integrated routes and costs will result in integrated subsidies," Mr Baswedan told Bisnis Indonesia, Friday (10/1). (KR/MS)
