Kimia Farma encouraged to enter Kuwait

20 January 2020 13:55

JAKARTA - Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait Tri Tharyat has asked PT Kimia Farma (Persero) Tbk (KAEF) to consider entering the Kuwaiti market. This was conveyed during his meeting with Kimia Farma Business Development Director Imam Fathororahman on January 15, 2020.

According to Mr Tharyat, Kuwaiti and Middle Eastern markets in general are growing rapidly and as such potential for Indonesian exported medicine and cosmetics is significant. In addition, herbal products and high quality medicine are also gaining popularity in Kuwait.

“The Kuwaiti people have very high standards. [The country] is very suitable for Indonesian products, whose high quality has been proven,” said Mr Tharyat as quoted from an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website, Thursday (16/1).

Kimia Farma Business Development Director Imam Fathorrahman said he hopes the company can immediately enter the Kuwaiti market. Kimia Farma’s production facility is the largest in Southeast Asia with a production capacity exceeding domestic demand, and thus the company has great potential to market its products overseas.

“As such, we need assistance from the Indonesian Embassy in Kuwait regarding information on import mechanism and regulation in the country as well as local companies that could potentially distribute our products there,” said Mr Fathorrahman. (MS)
