JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation must be responsive to government policies related to infrastructure development to increase national productivity, said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
“The Ministry of Transportation must be prepared. You will continually design, redesign, and develop infrastructure to suit each generational need,” said Ms Indrawati at a coordination meeting to discuss the ceiling of the Ministry of Transportation’s work plan and budget, Thursday (23/1).
“From one period to another, infrastructure will always remain relevant. Why? Because every generation will require different infrastructure characteristics to support mobility, activities, and productivity.”
In addition, Ms Indrawati also reminded the Ministry of Transportation to prepare the budget required for mobility in the planned new capital city in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. According to her, the ministry must prepare to face new dynamics, including the movement of goods and people, in the planned new capital. (MS)
