JAKARTA - Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita invited several parties to invest in Indonesia during the course of the 2020 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 20-24, 2020, including Nestlé.

“We met with several industry players to ensure that those who are operating in Indonesia are still comfortable and can increase their investments,” said Mr Kartasasmita in an official statement on Sunday (26/1).

“In addition, those who are seeking to invest [in Indonesia] are expected to realise their plans soon.”

A number of existing investors, said Mr Kartasasmita, are planning to expand their businesses in Indonesia. For example, in 2019 PT Nestlé Indonesia announced an investment commitment of US$100 million to increase the production capacity of its three factories by 25% from 620,000 tonnes to 775,000 tonnes per year.

Currently Nestlé Indonesia operates three factories in Karawang, West Java; Pasuruan, East Java; and Panjang, Lampung. The three factories produce, among others, Milo chocolate powdered drinks, Dancow milk, and Nescafé instant coffee. (MS)
