JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Cipta Karya continues to complete the construction of four sports arenas in supporting the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua Province in 2020.
Sports arena development was carried out in Jayapura, namely the Aquatic arena and ISTORA Papua Bangkit in the Kampung Harapan Sports Area, East Sentani District and the Cricket arena and Hockey Field (Indoor and Outdoor) in Kampung Doyo Baru, Waibu District.
Until 19 January 2020, the physical development of the aquatic arena reached 78.2% and is targeted to be completed by July 2020. The progress of the construction is faster than the original target of 60.9%.
Istora Papua Bangkit Development reached 74.01 percent or faster than the schedule of 62.8%. This venue was built with investment of Rp 257.5 billion by PT PP (Persero) as contractor and PT Virama Karya with Rp 4.8 billion as management consultant.
Furthermore, the construction of the Cricket arena and the Hockey field both indoors and outdoors has reached 74.7% or faster than the initial plan of 68.2%. The process itself is targeted for completion in June 2020. (LM)
