JAKARTA. PT PLN (Persero) claimed that it can save up to Rp 4 trillion per year if it uses gas as the fuel for its power plants instead of oil.
Zulkifli Zaini, President Director of PLN, said the conversion will be carried out based on the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) regarding gasification in the electricity sector.
"PLN has identified to map the plant construction planning and plant operation plans that use fuel and gas," Zaini said as quoted by Kontan on Tuesday (28/1) today.
PLN noted that the amount of fuel used by PLN in 2019 reached 2.6 million kiloliters. With this gasification, PLN estimates that fuel consumption could drop to 1.6 million kiloliters. (KR/AR)
