MRT Jakarta aims to have 100,000 passengers every day on average in 2020

JAKARTA. PT MRT Jakarta, the manager of Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), is targeting its average daily passenger to reach 100,000 this year.

William Sabandar, President Director of the Jakarta MRT, said that as of December 2019, the average number of MRT passengers had reached 65,000 per day. "For 2020, we will target 100,000 passengers per day," Sabandar explained to Antara.

Sabandar explained the increase in the number of MRT passengers will be driven by a number of policy packages made by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, which encourage the use of public transportation.

"We will really hope that there are government policies such as raising parking fees, making more park and ride, and encouraging people to use public transportation," Sabandar explained. (KR/AR)
