Adaro will focus on completing PLTU Bhimasena

JAKARTA. In an effort to strengthen its steam power plant business (PLTU), PT Adaro Energy Tbk is currently focused on completing the construction of the PLTU Bhimasena Power Indonesia, following the operation of the PLTU Tanjung Power Indonesia.

Head of Corporate Communication at Adaro Energy, Febriati Nadira said that PLTU Tanjung Power Indonesia has now started operating commercially. The power plant is committed to supplying electricity in South and Central Kalimantan, he said as quoted by KONTAN on Tuesday (4/2).

He added that Adaro Energy is currently focusing on completing the construction of PLTU Bhimasena Power Indonesia. By the end of September 2019, the construction progress of the PLTU has reached around 87%. ADRO management is targeting the 2x1,000 MW power plant to be operational this year.

The power plant, located in Batang, Central Java, is managed by PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), a consortium company between Adaro Power, Electric Power Development Co. Ltd. and Itochu Corporation. The construction of the power plant is estimated to cost US$ 4.2 billion.

Febriati said that ADRO assured her that it would supply coal to the two power plants. The amount of coal needed by the two power plants reaches 8 million tons to 9 million tons. Adaro will supply at least 60% - 65% of it. (AM/AR)
