JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) estimates business conditions in the first quarter of 2020 to slow down compared to business conditions in the fourth quarter of 2019. The optimism of the business tendency in the first quarter of 2020 was triggered by increased domestic orders, product selling prices and orders of input goods.

As quoted from BPS's openness on Wednesday (5/2), the business tendency index (ITB) in the first quarter of 2020 was around 102.90 while ITB in the fourth quarter of 2019 was 102.79. The trigger for this growth is the increase in orders from within the country with ITB 106.82, the selling price of products 104.46, and orders for input goods 101.16.

Increased business tendencies in the first quarter of 2020 are estimated to occur in all categories of business fields, except for the categories of government administration, defence and mandatory social security.

In addition, the consumer tendency index (ITK) in the first quarter of 2020 was 103.23, lower than the ITK in the fourth quarter of 2019 of 107.86. The increase in ITK is driven by an increase in the components of future household income. (LK)
