10 February 2020 15:00

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that this visit marked a new era of relations between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) and Australia and the action plan for implementing a comprehensive strategic partnership for 2020-2024 had been completed.

"This means that in the next 5 years our bilateral cooperation will be better and more focused," said President Jokowi when delivering a joint press statement after meeting with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison at Parliament House, Canberra, Australia, quoted from Setkab.go.id, Monday (10/2).

According to him, the ratification of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) has been completed between the two countries. "Which means that going forward the economic relations between the two countries comprehensively will be more advanced and the benefits of the people of the two countries must be more felt," he said.

According to the President, Indonesia encouraged the IA-CEPA's 100-day implementation program to be carried out, among others, the implementation of the Australia Business Week led by the Australian Minister of Trade in Indonesia, as well as visits by a number of major Australian private investors to Indonesia, and also cooperation for project funding infrastructure projects in Indonesia, and cooperation in education in the context of developing human resources.
