JAKARTA. PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) is preparing to build a new Steam Power Plant (PLTU) outside South Sumatra, to improve coal production efficiency.

Hadith Surya, Corporate Secretary of PTBA, said that his party is conducting a feasibility test. Because of that, the plan to build a new PLTU still cannot be executed in the near future. "Expansion may not be done this year," Surya explained to Bisnis Indonesia on Tuesday (11/2) today.

At present, PTBA is also completing the construction of PLTU Sumsel 8 with a capacity of 2x620 megawatts. The company is targeting the PLTU to start its commercial operations in 2021. At the end of 2019, the construction process of the PLTU has reached 30%. (KR/AR)
