JAKARTA - PT Timah Tbk (TINS) is currently developing a smelter located in Mentok, West Bangka, Bangka Belitung (Babel) which is expected to operate in 2022.
President Director of PT Timah, M Riza Pahlevi Tabrani said the company done the groundbreaking recently, and the project is expected to be completed in 19-20 months.
"At the end of 2021, our smelter will be finished. At the beginning of 2022 it will be operational," he said.
He said the construction was done without any partner, but using technology adopted from Finland, Outotec with an investment of US$ 80 million.
The company has prepared a capital expenditure (CapEx) budget of US$ 2 trillion, some of which will be used for the smelter project. In addition, the company also obtained financing from Finterra.
With the operation of the new smelter, PT Timah's production capacity will reach 80 thousand tons.(ARM/AR)
