JAKARTA. PT XL Axiata Tbk (EXCL) is considering mergers and acquisitions to develop its Fiber To The Home (FTTH) business more aggressively.

Dian Siswarini, President Director of EXCL, said that management was discussing the option with its shareholders. "We are discussing with our shareholders to conduct M&A (mergers and acquisitions), as a form of inorganic development," Siswarini said as quoted by Kontan on Wednesday (12/2) yesterday.

In addition, the development of the company's FTTH business will also be driven by partnerships. EXCL management currently has obtained several names of potential partners.

Later, EXCL and a number of its partners will expand its high-speed cable networks (homepass) to a number of cities. The company currently has 250,000 homepass units in 11 cities. The company does not plan to build a new homepass, but it will partner with other companies.

"We will collaborate with these partners. So we will also own their homepass, "explained Mohamed Adlan Bin Ahmad Tajuddin, Finance Director of EXCL. (KR/AR)
