Ministry of Industry continues to boost investment and exports

17 February 2020 08:07

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry is ready to work hard to achieve the non-oil and gas manufacturing industry growth target of 8.3% by 2024. Along with that target, efforts will also be made to boost the contribution of the manufacturing sector to the national economy by 18.9%.

"Therefore, we focus on increasing investment and exports. We will convince potential industrial sector investors to enter Indonesia, especially to produce imported substitute products,” said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said after a working meeting with all echelon I-II officials at the Ministry of Industry in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, Friday (14/2) evening.

Agus said, his ministry was determined to participate in encouraging commitments from investors who wanted to invest their capital in Indonesia so that it would be realized immediately. Then, in order to boost the value of national manufacturing exports, the Ministry of Industry is actively inviting industry players to be more aggressive in opening up market opportunities in nontraditional countries.

In the near future, the Minister of Industry will also conduct safaris to a number of stakeholders, including credit financing institutions. "We hope that they will increase the credit limit and expand the types of manufactured products. For example, we will talk with the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI), so for example to expand the program to include automotive component products," he added. (LM)
