JAKARTA. PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk. cooperates with a contractor (EPC) and manufacturing company from China, WnD (Liaoning) Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. to develop the liquefied natural gas (LNG) business in China.

Director of Strategy and Business Development at PGN, Syahrial Mukthar, said that according to the memorandum of understanding, within the next one year, activities will be carried out to support PGN's plan to enter liquefied natural gas mini terminals in China and other countries.

Syahrial explained that China is a country with a growing LNG market potential. With the increase in energy consumption, China has to seek energy supplies. Based on PGN calculations, China has a potential demand for gas or LNG which continues to grow by more than 15% per year.

"Hopefully, both PGN and WnD can further explore each other about the development of LNG through this cooperation," he explained in a press release Tuesday (2/18/2020).

Besides China, the initiation of the LNG trade also covers a number of regions such as Japan, Myanmar, and the Philippines. (AM/AR)
