JAKARTA - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asserted that the government and businesses need to collaborate closely to increase export.

This was conveyed by the ministry’s Expert Staffer for Economics Ina Krisnamurthi in a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diplomacy Canteen, Friday (14/2). The meeting was also attended by Indonesia Eximbank CEO James Rompas, Head of the National Single Window Agency (LNSW) Agus Rofiudin, Bank Indonesia (BI) Executive Director Peter Jacobs, and representatives from PT Trimitra Baterai Perkasa.

“Collaboration between the government and business players is essential in economic diplomacy in order to penetrate prospective markets,” said Ms Krisnamurthi in an official statement, Monday (17/2). In order to increase export, she added, there are three important elements namely business readiness, market intelligence, and appropriate promotions.

The meeting also discussed various recommendations from business players to the government in order to facilitate exporters such as licencing simplification, land provision for agricultural products, and free trade deals with various countries. (MS)
