This dam has been built since 2015 with an APBN budget of Rp 1.7 trillion. The construction is carried out in stages through three packages with each contractor, PT. Brantas Abipraya (Persero), PT. Pelita Nusa Perkasa (KSO) for package 1, PT. Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk for package 2, PT. Hutama Karya-Perapen for package 3. At present, the dam construction progress has reached 68% and is targeted to be completed by the end of 2020.

The Keureuto Dam is one of 49 new dams built by the Ministry of PUPR through the Sumatra River Basin 1 Directorate General of Water Resources in the 2015-2019 period as an effort to realize water security and food sovereignty in Aceh Province. (LM)
