RIYADH - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has affirmed that a commitment to transparency in order to create a same-level playing field for all countries in the global taxation system is required, which eliminates tax havens and low-tax jurisdiction countries.
“In order to improve global tax transparency, there needs to be a same-level playing field for all countries,” said Ms Indrawati in a meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of G20 member countries in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Monday (24/2).
“All countries must be in an equal position. Tax havens and low-tax jurisdiction countries must be eliminated.”
According to Ms Indrawati, all G20 member countries need to educate their citizens about the importance of tax transparency. This can be achieved by guaranteeing the security of taxpayers’ data for information exchange for taxation purposes. (MS)
