Pekanbaru - Dumai toll road is targeted for completion in April 2020

PEKANBARU - President Joko Widodo was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, and Riau Governor Samsuar reviewed the construction of the Pekanbaru - Dumai Toll Road, Friday (2/21/2020). At present, the construction progress has reached 87.74% and is targeted to operate by the end of April 2020.

"We hope that by the end of April 2020, it will be completed so that the it can be passed during Lebaran. In the past, with Pekanbaru - Dumai national road, it took about 4 to 5 hours, but with the existence of the toll road it could take around 1.5 to 2 hours," said President Jokowi.

The Pekanbaru - Dumai Toll Road was built with a total investment cost of Rp 16.21 trillion. This toll road is part of the 2,799.3 km Trans Sumatra Toll Road which stretches from Lampung to Aceh and is targeted to be completed by the end of 2024.

This toll road consists of six sections namely Section I Pekanbaru - Minas (9.5 km), Section II Minas - Petapahan (24.1 km), Section III Petapahan - Kandis Utara (16.9 km), Section IV Kandis Utara - Duri Selatan (26.25 km), Duri Selatan - Duri Utara (29.4 km), and Section VI Duri Utara - Dumai (25.44 km).

For information, the construction progress of Section I Pekanbaru-Minas has reached 100%, while for Section II it has reached 89.83%, Section III 83.72%, Section IV 88.77%, Section V 90.12% and Section VI 82.97 %. (LM)
