JAKARTA. The Indonesian government prepares Rp 1.5 trillion to provide stimulus in the form of Interest Difference Subsidy (SSB), as well as down payment assistance for houses.
Rp 800 billion of the fund will be used to provide SSB, and the remaining Rp 700 billion will be used to provide down payment assistance.
Sri Mulyani, Minister of Finance, said the funds will be able to fund the construction of more than 100,000 new houses. "With the additional Rp 1.5 trillion, there will be an additional 175,000 new houses that can be built, because there is demand," Mulyani explained as quoted by Kontan on Tuesday (25/2) yesterday.
Mulyani added that assistance will have a positive impact on a number of sectors. "This (housing) sector has 174 sectors related to it, we hope the increase in the number of houses built will trigger a positive impact," she said. (KR/AR)
