27 February 2020 08:28

JAKARTA - The government focuses on spurring the industrial sector to be more vigorous in increasing the value of investment and exports. This effort is believed to be able to encourage the strengthening of the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector and national economic structure. Moreover, the potential of the domestic industry is expected to be utilized to the full, both in the domestic and export markets.

"Until now, national economic growth has been driven by the non-oil and gas processing industry with a contribution of 17.58%. With the global economic pressure, the processing industry is also still the biggest contributor to exports with a contribution of 75.6% of total national exports," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita at the Investment Expansion and Export Release to the United States event by PT. Future Pipe Industries in Balaraja, Tangerang, Banten, Wednesday (26/2).

The Minister of Industry gave appreciation to PT. Future Pipe Industries for the realization of its capital investment commitment in Indonesia and the success of expanding its export market to the US. "PT. Future Pipe Industries has invested around USD40 million, and in 2020 plans to re-add investment in order to meet growing domestic needs and meeting the needs of the global market, especially ASEAN," he said.

PT. Future Pipe Industries this year began exporting pipeline products to the United States for the construction of sewerage infrastructure projects that connect several cities in the San Francisco, Belmont, Redmond and San Carlos areas. This export momentum shows that industrial products in Indonesia can be competitive in international markets by having high standards. The company exports a 3.4 meter diameter glass fiber (fiberglass) composite pipe with a total length of 5.3 kilometers. (LM)
