JAKARTA - The government expects to restore the national oil production to 1 million barrels of oil per day (bopd) by 2030, said Energy Minister Arifin Tasrif.
“For that purpose, we need to undertake measures to increase production, such as maintaining production levels in existing fields and carrying out reserve to the production programmes,” said Mr Tasrif after a meeting at the Presidential Office, Wednesday (4/3).
The government, said Mr Tasrif, will make the effort to speed up production in potential sources and carry out recovery programmes, such as steamflood chemical enhanced oil recovery.
In terms of exploration in new fields, Mr Tasrif said production is expected to commence in the next 10 years.
“We still have 13,000 abandoned drilling holes. If we are to launch a rehabilitation programme, we can expect that these holes will produce additional oil,” he said. (MS)
