JAKARTA - Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto has placed a temporary ban on the export of antiseptics and masks amid the coronavirus disease or Covid-19 outbreak, which has been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to an official statement on the Cabinet Secretariat's website, the ban is contained in Minister of Trade’s Decree No. 23/2020 on the Temporary Ban on the Export of Antiseptics, Mask Raw Materials, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Masks, which was signed on Monday (16/3) and comes into effect on Thursday (19/3).

The decree will apply until June 30, 2020. Exporters that violate the ban will be sanctioned in accordance with the law.

The ban, said the Ministry of Trade, is part of the government’s effort to protect public health and prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia. (MS)
