Transcoal established five shipping companies

JAKARTA - PT Transcoal Pacific Tbk (TCPI) established five subsidiaries in the shipping sector to respond to opportunities for increased revenue in the maritime and ship logistics sector. The five companies will enter coal transportation for export and food for import purposes.

As quoted from the disclosure of company information on Monday (3/23), Dirc Richard, Managing Director of PT Transcoal Pacific Tbk (TCPI) said the shipping company that was established would be used to capture business opportunities in line with the enactment of regulations regarding the use of sea transportation. The five companies were founded by two TCPI subsidiaries namely, PT Kanz Gemilang Utama and PT Sentra Makmur Lines. The five shipping companies include PT Energi Lautan Kencana, PT Karya Samudera Insani, PT Bahari Maritim Energi, PT Sari Samudera Gemilang, and PT Transportation Lautan Energi.

Referring to the Regulation of the Minister of Trade No.40/2018 concerning the Second Amendment to the Regulation of the Minister of Trade No.82/2017 on Provisions on the Use of Sea Transportation and National Insurance for the Export and Import of Certain Goods, exporters of coal and crude palm oil (CPO) are required to use sea transportation controlled by the company national sea transportation. Rice and goods importers for government procurement are required to use sea transportation controlled by the national sea transportation company. (LK)
