Astra donates Rp 63 billion to prevent COVID-19 spread

JAKARTA - PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) and Astra Group companies yesterday (23/3) delivered various initial aid totaling around Rp 63 billion to assist the government and the community in preventing the spread of COVID-19. The initial stage of aid is in line with the spirit of Astra's contribution to the nation.

Through Nurani Astra, the manifestations of the aid included various equipment to prevent the spread of COVID-19 such as test kits, personal protective equipment, hand sanitizers to disinfectants, 100 units of Daihatsu Gran Max Pick Up, and 10 units of trucks (five units of Toyota Dyna and five Isuzu Elf NMR71 unit) for disinfectant spray vehicles for the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).

"We hope that all elements of the nation will unite in facing the current situation. This initial aid is a form of our contribution in helping the government and the community in preventing the spread of COVID-19, so we hope this aid can ease the burden on the government and society," said Astra President Director Prijono Sugiarto.

For aid delivery, Astra has collaborated with a number of parties namely the Indonesian Ministry of Health, National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Indonesian Lung Doctors Association (PDPI), medical laboratories, and government referral hospitals worth Rp 5.5 billion. As well as foundations that accommodates and manages aid from company groups in Indonesia, amounting to Rp 40 billion. Astra also cooperates with a number of companies in the procurement of COVID-19 test kits. (LM)
