JAKARTA. PT Adaro Energy Tbk (ADRO), one of the largest coal companies in Indonesia, gave out Rp 20 billion to help the effort to mitigate the corona pandemic or Covid-19 in Indonesia.

Garibaldi Thohir, President Director of ADRO, handed over the fund directly to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). The fund, said Thohir, was received directly by Doni Monardo, Chief of the Covid-19 Mitigation Task Force.

"Adaro is fighting for Indonesia and is ready to use our resources to work together with the government in handling the coronavirus in Indonesia," Thohir said in his official statement yesterday.

Meanwhile, Monardo explained that this was the first aid from the private sector received by the government. The Covid-19 Mitigation Task Force will use this fund for the operations of medical personnel, the army, and the procurement of Covid-19 ambulances. (KR/AR)
