Ministry of Research and Technology establishes a consortium to help fight COVID-19

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Research and Technology / National Agency for Research and Innovation (Kemenristek BRIN) formed a consortium engaged in the healthcare sector to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We compiled a work plan that is focused on helping to prevent, detect and respond quickly to COVID-19 through research and innovation in prevention such as vaccines and supplements, then screening, diagnosis, treatment, and medical equipment related to COVID- 19, "said the Minister of Research and Technology Bambang Brodjonegoro after meeting Chief of COVID-19 Mitigation Task Force, Doni Mornardo in Jakarta, yesterday (6/4).

The consortium consists of a number of research institutions under the coordination of the Ministry of Research and Technology including the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), various universities, and the Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Health (Litbangkes).

The consortium also involved State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), private companies, and start-up companies in the field of healthcare technology. (LK/AR)
