COVID-19: Terawan approves Jakarta request to implement large-scale social restrictions

JAKARTA - Health Minister Dr Terawan Agus Putranto has approved the Jakarta Municipal Government’s request to implement large-scale social restrictions in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to Head of the Ministry of Health’s Media and Opinion Department Busroni, the approval has been signed by Dr Putranto and will be delivered to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

“[The decision] was made with consideration with the COVID-19 Mitigation Task Force. Jakarta has met all the requirements for large-scale social restrictions as stipulated in Minister of Health’s Regulation No. 9/2020 and Government Regulation No. 21/2020 on Large-Scale Social Restrictions,” Mr Busroni told CNN Indonesia, Tuesday (7/4).

As of Monday (6/4), Jakarta has 1,299 confirmed cases of COVID-19—the highest in Indonesia, while in total the country so far has 2,491 confirmed cases and 209 deaths. (MS)
