COVID-19: Anies to share Governor's Regulation on social restrictions with Jakarta satellite cities

09 April 2020 11:34

JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has confirmed he will share a Governor's Regulation on Large-Scale Social Restrictions with governments of the capital’s satellite cities.

The regulation, said Mr Baswedan, has been drafted in coordination with West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Banten Governor Wahidin Halim, and other relevant local governments.

“This is what we are working on. Administration regulation in each regency, city, or province may differ, but we need to synchronise the substance,” said the former Education Minister at the Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (8/4) as quoted by CNN Indonesia.

“We are currently working on a Governor's Regulation, which will be shared [with other relevant local governments] and serve as a reference with adjustment to each region’s challenges.”

Jakarta will start imposing large-scale social restrictions to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on Friday (10/4), with the restrictions expected to last 14 days. According to Mr Baswedan, the capital’s social restriction policy will serve as a reference for other regions seeking to implement a similar policy, particularly those that are part of the Greater Jakarta area.
