COVID-19: 23 companies in Jakarta forced to shut temporarily for violating large-scale social restrictions

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Office has temporarily shut 23 companies for violating large-scale social restrictions imposed to cushion the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Seven of the companies are located in Central Jakarta while 11 are in West Jakarta, four in North Jakarta, and one in South Jakarta. “The 23 companies are closed until the end of the restrictions,” Head of the Jakarta Manpower Office Andri Yansah told Antara, Friday (17/4).

In addition, he said, 126 companies have been issued warnings. According to Article 10 of Governor’s Regulation No. 33/2020, only 11 sectors are allowed to operate during the restrictions: health, food and beverage, energy, communication and information technology, finance, logistics, lodging, strategic industries, basic services, public utilities, and industries categorised as national vital objects.

Currently, according to the Jakarta Municipal Government’s records there are 200 companies still operating in the capital with permits from the Ministry of Industry. (MS)
