JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) targets the signing of the Karian-Serpong Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) project contract with a total value of Rp 2.21 trillion, to be carried out in the fourth quarter of this year.
Minister of PUPR, Basuki Hadimuljono, said the construction of the Karian-Serpong SPAM can begin in 2021, so that the interval between the completion of the Karian Dam in Lebak, Banten, in 2021 with its utilization using the Karian-Serpong SPAM project is not too long.
"It is hoped that the tender process for the project can be started as soon as possible and in the fourth quarter of 2020 the contract can be signed, so that construction is expected to begin in 2021. With that, the project may be completed in 2022 or 2023," said Minister Basuki as quoted from the Setkab.go.id page on Sunday (19/4).
The total capacity of the SPAM is 4,600 litres per second (LPD) and it will serve 1.6 million people in Jakarta, South Tangerang and Tangerang with a transmission pipeline 25.2 km long. (LK/AR)
