JAKARTA - PT Bank Mega Tbk (MEGA) managed to record net profit growth of 38.4% in Q1 2020, rising from Rp 483.67 billion (Q1/2019) to Rp 669.39 billion (Q1/2020).
The company noted a 9.74% increase in net interest income, from Rp 901.38 billion (Q1/2019) to Rp 989.14 billion (Q1/2020) and 29.59% increase in other operational income, from Rp 599.97 billion (Q1/2019) to Rp 777.49 billion (Q1/2020).
Rise in the other operational income could be attributed to a steep increase of 215.22% in foreign exchange gain, rising from Rp 86.97 billion (Q1/2019) to Rp 274.15 billion (Q1/2020) and a 161.85% increase in securities sales, rising from Rp 25.69 billion (Q1/2019) to Rp 64.64 billion (Q1/2020).
